Moot Court
Moot Court is an integral part of a law student’s academic and professional journey. The practical exposure gained through moot court participation helps students build confidence and prepares them to perform effectively in real courtroom scenarios. It is also a mandatory component of legal education as prescribed by the Bar Council of India (BCI) for BA LL.B., LL.B., and LL.M. programs.
AIM Law College, located at Niladri Vihar 2nd Lane EXTN, Brahmapur (Ganjam), Odisha, India, strongly believes in the holistic development of students—focusing not only on academic excellence but also on practical legal skills. The institution has a dedicated and active Moot Court Society comprising both students and faculty members who mentor and guide aspiring mooters. The society ensures that students learn every aspect of mooting, from research and drafting to oral advocacy.
The Moot Court Society actively organizes and participates in national and international moot court competitions. It also facilitates interaction between students and experienced legal professionals, including advocates from the Supreme Court, High Courts, and District Courts. These interactions inspire students and help them understand the real-world significance of moot court experience in an advocate’s career.
The college is equipped with a well-maintained Moot Court Hall featuring all necessary infrastructure, including a judge’s bench, podiums, legal resources such as bare acts and commentaries, and a professional courtroom-like ambience. The presence of elements such as the Statue of Lady Justice and the Preamble of the Constitution further enhances the learning environment and motivates students to actively participate.
From the very beginning of their academic journey, students are encouraged to observe and participate in moot court activities. The Moot Court Society regularly informs students about upcoming competitions and provides structured training sessions to prepare them. Collaborations with other law institutions ensure that students stay updated with evolving mooting techniques and standards.
Many students of AIM Law College have actively participated in moot court competitions and have earned recognition and accolades. Their skills are further refined during internships with practicing advocates and judges, where they gain valuable firsthand experience of the legal profession.
